The Valet Crew is people all over the country reporting real conditions from where they actually are. Radar guesses. You know.

Why the ground matters

Radar sees a signature seven thousand feet up and infers what is happening underneath it. That inference is usually close and sometimes badly wrong.

The rain stopped at my fence line. Radar had the whole township covered.

One person standing in it beats a model every single time. That is the whole idea. Our Meteorologists use Crew reports while they are writing to paying subscribers, which means what you saw in your driveway can change what somebody a county over gets told.

What being on the Crew is like

  • Report when you feel like it. No quota, no schedule, no obligation. Quiet weeks are fine.
  • It takes seconds. Hail the size of a nickel. Water over the road at County Line. Wind took a limb down. That is a report.
  • See what everyone else is seeing. The Crew map and feed show live reports from around you.
  • A Meteorologist may thank you by name or cite your report in a brief that goes out to subscribers.
  • It costs nothing, ever. This is not a trial and there is no upsell waiting at the end.

Straight answers

Do I need equipment?
No. Your eyes and your phone. A rain gauge is a bonus, not a requirement.

Do I need to be a spotter?
No. Trained spotters are welcome and so is anyone who pays attention. If you are trained, tell us when you sign up.

Am I on the hook during storms?
Never. Report if you are safe and want to. Take shelter first, always. Nothing you report to us is worth standing outside for.

Will you try to sell me something?
No. Crew is free and stays free. If you want a paid product you will have to go find it yourself.
